Sunday dinner

There is still nothing quite like a Sunday dinner when the days are drawing shorter and the weather is cold and autumnal or wintry outside, to warm the heart - and the stomach!! Tim said it all this morning; 'now we get to have hot puddings mum!' He had spotted the cookery book page lying open at CHOCOLATE BREAD & BUTTER PUDDING!! I had bought all the necessary ingredients yesterday, but failed to read the part that suggests that it has to be made preferably 48 hours before cooking! Since that is not part of my plan for today, it is going to be much shorter between making and baking times, but I am giving it as long as I can. So, the taste of chocolate, cream, sugar and rum is on my lips as I sit here to write about it.........yummy. Got to clean out the bowl, right?! My pud is now sitting for two hours on the cooker hob at room temperature before going in the fridge until we are ready to bake it this evening. Our first course is Coq au Vin, which is an old favourite of mine but still a recipe that I have not thought about making for ages and ages. I will add more veggies into the pan so that I get enough to eat, but I am sure the addition of the red wine and cognac will go down a treat! I feel a sherry coming on! I may not be the best cook in the world or have combined the courses properly but I assure you that they are gonna taste absolutely fabulous!!!!!
